Glasgow's underground techno linchpin Boom Merchant returns all guns blazing with 3 wild but intricate slabs of voodoo music. Coupled with another 3 stellar remixes from our global gang of bang, this is a package that spells fun for all the family.

Title track '18 Hours' is a merger of sub groove, polyrhythmic percussion, elephants and other sounds from the Serengeti; a deep dive into funk-driven animalistic expression.

‘X' keeps the tempo high but adopts a more jackin' mentality, with congas, horns and synth sparks flowing over a relentless Reese bass, topped with a vocal slice from one of the history's most important civil rights activists.

‘Free Love' is a piece that descends into chaos, with Jaws-like risers, reversing lorries, eerie screams and vocal echoes smudged together to create an orchestra of disorder as the track pelts along the interstellar freeway.

Johnny Kaos' take on '18 Hours' is as you might expect it to be; rhythmic, slamming, and perfectly balanced. He loops the elephants and focuses on the rumbling tribal vocal line to create a raw but cohesive dance weapon.

Homma Honganji delivers a truly epic pair of remixes to complete the package. His rejig of '18 Hours' preserves the elephants and driving nature of the original, but the track grows to a whopping crescendo around 3 ominous notes.

He maintains that slamming hardgroove feel in his rework of ‘X', amplifying the chords of the original and adding carefully processed melodic elements to provide a highly emotional finale to our journey.
